It's here!!

Ceili Rain just released their new CD!!! Can't wait to get this one!

A quick breath of air

I waited breathlessly all week to be able to blog run, so here I am.

I see there is a new blog out there in the tradition of Screwtape. I am not sure, but I think and am, therefore, not surprised that Jeff Miller is behind this one. As my kids say, "shhwwEEEEt!!!"

I also noticed, in looking at my stats, that I had more hits as a result of people searching for the meaning behind that UGLY baby. Found this link which gives the answer straight from Mel

I just realized yesterday how nosy my neighbors are... (not that I really didn't know before.)... I mean.. I get along fine with them. Everyone pretty much stays to themselves on our block, outwardly anyway. Everyone once in a while, the guy next to us stands out and talks to the guy across the street... and the family across the street seem to chat with a few people on either side of them. Anyway... I have to back up. When the DxH decided to go off on his adventure, he left his Dodge Ram truck with us. He's pretty much giving it to Exhibit A. It doesn't really fit in the driveway, so I leave it on the curb. Actually truth is, I'm scared to scratch my car as I am still not used to driving such a huge truck. I still can't see mys wiry little slip of a child driving that big truck, but he's really itching to get his license. I have to be grateful, too, as we used this truck to pick up our piano. So anyway... this truck has been in front of our house for about 2-3 weeks now.

Back to yesterday. I have been wanting to get started on our garden, so ExA and I took the truck over to the local nursery to get some bags of topsoil and manure. As we unloaded, I noticed the neighbor next door over with the guy across the street. He looked over at me (mind you we barely speak)... and called out..."Oh, when did you start trucking?" I explained that the ex had left me the truck, as he is out of the country.... "OH?? where is he?" I told him and he just nodded. Given more time and a creative mind, I could have come up with a doozy of a story LOL. I'm surprised that the news isn't out already anyway, because another neighbor asked the other day if I had company. I told her no and why we had the truck. I was sure the story would be out and everyone's curiosity would be satisfied. Guess they had to hear it from the horse's mouth. Whatever. No sooner I had finally ended that, but the mailman pulled up. "Hi Becky, got a new truck?"

As the two guys finished talking, the lady across the street came out with another neighbor from up the block, an old widow woman. They waved and the old lady looked at our open gate and ExA hauling the last of the bags to the back yard. Of course they had questions and I answered that I was starting on our vegetable garden. Then I heard the old woman ask our neighbor (I had my back turned), "Do they still have poodles?" I heard a mumble and then the old lady asked me directly, "Do you still have poodles?" I said no. I'm surprised she even remembers I had poodles. It's been so long that I have almost forgotten. I didn't mention our Dalmatian, or I'd be tempted to tell her we have 101 of them :)

Anyway, I now know that I have been living on a Peyton Place kinda block (minus the scandals, of course) where hardly anyone talks to each other, but everyone knows EVERYTHING about everyone. Cool. : )
